Too often, patients hear these claims for new lasers and other similar treatments for the skin. While the hope is for a fast recovery and a more youthful look, the reality is less of a “lunch-time face lift” and more of a “month-long sunburn”.
To help patients understand the expected recovery and process of these treatments, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has proposed a common set of terminology for the industry to use when promoting their products. This should help patients in considering these treatment options.
The following effects will be rated for each device and procedure that involves laser, light or other energy based treatments.
This system should allow patients to make a more informed choice and plan their recovery and healing process.
