A common question asked by older patients deals with the safety of a face lift procedure. To answer that question, a recent study showed that in properly selected patients, complications in patients 65 years and older are as low as in younger patients. One key point is that a patient’s age alone is not a reason to avoid surgery. Rather, a patient’s overall medical condition needs to be considered.
So if you are considering a face lift, be sure to discuss your medical condition with a board certified plastic surgeon. If you have any significant medical problems, your primary care doctor may be involved in making sure you are “cleared” for surgery.
